Romania Insider News

Two African-American basketball players were stabbed on Saturday night at a terrace in the center of Braila, a city in Eastern Romania. The two athletes are Darrell Bowie, 24, and Joseph McClain, 25, both players at ACS Cuza Sport Braila.

Several members of a gang assaulted players of a local basketball team in Braila while at a terrace in the city center on Saturday evening. Two of the players, Americans Darrell Bowie and Joseph McClain, were stabbed and suffered some severe injuries that needed an operation. Bowie had a punctured lung and was transferred to a hospital in Bucharest for recovery while McClain remained at the hospital in Braila.

The main suspect for the stabbing is called Gabriel Husein, also known as Dasaev. He is a well-known underworld leader in Braila. He was convicted to 20 years in jail for procuring and rape in Spain, but he was released after 7 years, in 2014.

Darrell Bowie and Joseph McClain had arrived to Braila only 7 days before the incident, being transferred by the local basketball team led by local investor Mircea Totolici. He said he had other African-American players at his club in recent years but no such incidents ever occurred. He added that the team currently has five American players but that the others are scared after the incident.

And ppl think our country is fricked up.

Look how black basketball and soccer players are treated in parts of eastern Europe and parts of Mexico/South America. It’s sad.

I wonder if the "investor" that owns the team was beefing with the tattoo guy and this was the result.

It’ll be interesting to hear if they tie it to some type of point shaving scandal. You just have to think shite like that goes on all the time in that part of the world. Strong organized crime, little free press, players not making the millions they think they deserve, etc. it just seems ripe for fixing games. Hell, I could go online and bet one of those games now on 5dimes. I wish I knew a couple of Romanian gangsters...
