Yes, really. JTJr went from playing for the Celtics to high school coach in DC to Georgetown.

This has got to be one of the saddest troll attempts I've ever seen on this site.

Dude looked 90 years old 30 years ago wow can’t believe he was still alive.

This thread is confusing my tiny brain, but high school coach modeled his offense after him. The back door cuts and screen and roll were a huge part of the offense. Plus having a 5 that could shoot 3s was huge.

Pulling the shot blocker out of the paint was a huge reason why those back cuts worked so well.

Every single position was a point guard and a shooter in the offense. Missing those few years.

They came so, so, so close to pulling the first 16 over 1 against Georgetown one year

This is back when major upsets were few and far between... Or actually non-existent. It was the buzz at school...so heartbreaking when they lost at the end by a blocked 3-pointer.

Carril was the king of the backdoor bucket and slow the game down.

Beat defending National champs UCLA in 1996 by a backdoor bucket 43-41, he got his signature win, proving basketball can be turned into a chess game afterall.

Why did he leave Princeton considering he still coached NBA for many more years? He was forced out?

I remember watching the end of the UCLA/Princeton NCAA Tournament game. That was his crowning moment. And Gus Johnson exclaiming "The glass slipper still fits!". That was such a great call.

His teams were always fundamentally sound even when overmatched. I always wondered how Princeton and some of these other schools would fare if they were ever seeded a little higher like 11 th or 12th. Wisconsin about 20 years ago ran close to the same offense and defense and would win. Not saying the athletes were close, but.....they may have not been that far off of the middle tier
