Oscar was awesome. Used to drive around the Gump in his Rolls. Great guy. RIP Oscar

I remember he was with the Rangers for half a season. We lost him in one of the stupidest things our sorry franchise ever did. (And I can't blame this one on Jon the Moron either)

Rangers had a deal for Mickey Rivers, we were going to trade three minor leaguers for him. But the team mentioned their names BEFORE they had cleared waivers, so they couldn't trade them. Yankees insisted on Gamble in the deal so we lost him.

I remember someone saying at the end of Oscar's career, "Oscar is so old, when he broke in, he was a Negro" the terminology having changed over his career.

I wasn't the biggest fan of his son Shane, having grown up in Montgomery.

And Oscar didnt have the only Rolls Royce in the Gump...
