McRoberts, could have been really good at Duke. Not Tyler Hansboro good, but he could have really made a difference as a senior on that squad this year IMO. His 10 to 15 points or so and passing out of the post would have been great. I never thought he would be a stud in the NBA.

He wins a lot of games. Hell, the last four years have been disappointing by Duke standards, but he has still gone 112-28.

If you are complaining about the lack of tournament success, you have a point, but the single elimination format makes it very difficult to go to the Final 4 every year. When you are nitpicking a guy who has 10 Final Fours in the past 23 years, I guess that means something. Even in the last decade, he has three Final Fours and a championship.

Guys like Zoubek and Lance Thomas were pretty highly regarded coming out of High School. I think Duke taking these kinds of players isn't the only problem. Not having some sort of serious NBA caliber weight training program is another hindrance IMO. I will always feel K is one of the top coaches in basketball, some of his off court practices are starting to get a little outdated though IMO. I really hope he looks at the players over in Chapel Hill and changes a couple of his philosophies. I felt he did an outstanding job with the crew he had this year.

What are you referring to other than weight training?

with McRoberts on this year's team, I think they'd have been a legit NC contender. He was a pussy in the offensive post (but like you said a good passer), but he actually played tough inside on the other end. he shoulda stuck around to change that whiny image and improve his post game, did he and K have issues?

Yes, there was a lot of animosity between all of the coaches and McRoberts. He was probably the least liked player since Ricky Price.

Peeej with your idiotic fricking comments in this thread, all you did was validate Coach K being a good coach. Duke fans expect better than Sweet 16 because Coach K took them to another level. Go choke on a dick.

You honestly think Roy Williams would have done better with that roster? Because I don't, I don't think anyone would have. And I disagree with you pretty strongly on Coach K being over rated or what ever you are trying to say about him. I actually do think he will change some of the things he currently doing. I hear he is already starting to go after the more "one and done" type guys. that would be a huge step in the right direction. I honestly don't know how he could coach the Olympic team the way he did and not realize the importance of strength training.

He's recruited lots of top-ranked players. Nolan Smith, Gerald Henderson, Kyle Singler, McRoberts, and Elliot Williams were all regarded as guys who could be gone in 1 or 2 years (in terms of high school talent and rankings), although some have clearly been better than others. I am sure the fact that Henderson, Smith, and Singler all come from wealthy backgrounds has contributed to them staying longer, but I think that is more of a coincidence than an intentional strategy.

Unfortunately, he has whiffed on talented big men like Samardo Samuels, Greg Monroe, and Patrick Patterson. He recruited each of those guys hard, but they just didn't want to come.

K may shy away from 1 and dones, but I don't think he's hung up on 4 year guys as much as ppl make him out to be. I'd imagine he's going after a lotta the same guys Roy is. They just don't seem to develop, and he lately K doesn't seem to be able to get a good big.

I'm a dumbass? You're trying to say Coach K doesn't recruit well, you have no basis. Just because you type in caps and use exclamation marks doesn't mean you aren't a fricktard. Coach K doesn't want to get the guys who bolt after a year or two, so he recruits a different kind of player. Maybe say his philosophy is flawed but don't say he can't recruit.

Out of everyone you named Henderson and maybe Williams are the only 2 that I think Compare Athletically with UNC type players. Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely think you can have guys like Singler being the stud on your team.....what I am saying is it is hard to get by ultra athletic teams when you have a team full of guys like Singler in terms of athleticism. Everyone that plays for Duke was pretty highly regarded coming out of high school, I know that.
