Reginald Samples becomes first African American coach in TX HSFB to get 300 wins

Tip of the cap to him. 13th coach in the state to reach 300 wins. He’s pulled this off in the highest class playing in an extremely tough region. He’s recently taken over some dormant programs (Dallas Skyline and Duncanville) and has turned them into state contenders. I’d still like to see him get that elusive state title.
It’s a shame we don’t get to see these guys take on Bishop Sycamore as was scheduled.

He appears to be a good man. Teaches his teams to win or lose with class. Maybe it’s not a bad thing that he’s won the vast majority of his games by using open enrollment to have kids that live an hour or more from his campus play for him. That sounds backhanded. It is a little. But I’m serious that he does a great job molding kids into great young men.

I’m over the whole recruiting thing. It happens everywhere. District lines are redrawn around the state to help out certain schools.
The 6A schools, in particular, are always figuring out ways to get the athletes to their school. I’m not close to the Duncanville situation, but I’m sure it’s not anything that you wouldn’t see at many power programs across the state.

You get to a certain point, the program recruits itself.
