Fair or unfair, the fact that Young spent those crucial years of his prime on the bench and not building stats and winning titles. Young had what amounted to an 8-year career. Had he played out his entire prime as a starter in the NFL (he also got screwed by going to the USFL and starting in Tampa) I have no doubt he'd be top 3. He's got the same dilemma as Moon though.

It's easy. Just pick the mediocre quarterback that got a couple late Super Bowls.

Favre has great career total stats because he played so many years. Look at his ratios and how many pics he throws in clutch drives. He's the most overrated QB ever.

Based on Postseason success?

1) Otto Graham
2) Joe Montana
3) Tom Brady

Overall career achievements?

1) Favre
2) Elway
3) Marino

I just need to win one game (get them at the peak of their ability)

1) Steve Young
2) Peyton Manning
3) Joe Montana

now i'm waffling whether I should have put Terry Bradshaw in as the #3 based on postseason success (over Tom Brady)

Probably I should have

I would say Bart Starr for your postseason list.

I'd consider Warren Moon a 3-A for your career achievement list.

And in your "1 game at peak list" I'd consider Staubach. Not sure who I'd take out though.

Good breakdown.

AGAIN by your logic this comment makes Marino NOT great. Think about it.

No, you idiot. Are you seriously comparing Warren Moon to Dan Marino? Do you really think there is a comparison? I already showed you that Marino's teams weren't that great.

Compare their stats season to season and how much success they had with comparable talent AND THEN GET BACK TO ME!!!! Even still, Marino had MUCH better career NUMBERS. And Moon could have played six more seasons and put up more yardage but it wouldn't have mattered. Marino AT HIS BEST was better than Moon at his best, no question. Marino could have retied in the early '90s and he'd still be regarded as an ALL TIME GREAT. CAN't SAY THE SAME FOR MOON!! CAN't SAY THE SAME FOR ELWAY!!!

Yeah, I agree that he would've had some awesome all-time totals because of his longevity. I doubt that it automatically means that he'd be an all-time great.

Same can be said for Marino!!!

This is going nowhere. You will not listen to YOUR own logic. Elway was BETTER than Marino except for stats that he stayed around longer than he should have to achieve. I like Marino. But he is NOT close to what Elway did OVERALL!!! THINK ABOUT IT. BTW Elway BEAT Favre in the SB and GB had an awesome team that year.
