So you're holding it against Duncan for doing better during the regular season in seasons in which the Spurs didn't win the title--years where late 30s Robinson, Derek Anderson, and/or a 19-yr-old were his second best players--but not holding it against Shaq for not winning with All-Star Kobe in 1999 and 2003 (latter of which they were three time defending champs)? Seems completely reasonable.

Do you know how absurd this sounds to anyone who's rational and isn't a Lakertard?

My point has nothing to do with duncan or kobe or shaq

and yet the stats still show the 2001 and 2002 spurs teams were definitely better than the 1999 and 2003 laker teams

It's the basis of this argument.

Duncan always got his shite pushed in by great Lakers teams.

People forget that the '01/'02 Spurs teams were flawed.

For crying out loud, we had old-arse Avery Johnson and 19 year old Tony Parker running point those years

Not Duncan or SA's fault that the middling laker teams managed to get bounced in early rounds or miss the playoffs completely.

Where were y'all in '05? '06? '07? SA was contending for titles those years while y'all twiddled your thumbs.

And thank David Stern for '08 btw. Playing a game 1 of a WCF less than 24 hours after a game 7, then the no-call on the Brent Barry foul

That's the basis of your argument with my VOL partner. My argument has nothing to do with individual players and everything to do with the teams

When did this happen during the Lakers' championship run with Shaq?

You guys are losing track of the argument.

I refuse to label the Duncan era Spurs as a dynasty. Couldn't even defend ONE of their titles?

They're more like the mid 90's Rockets that took advantage of the real best team in basketball having issues (losing the GOAT for 2 years in his prime).

Wait, even those Rockets had a repeat. Nevermind.
