was wondering if you would pop into this thread
I hope Hicks can sell the team without going into bankruptcy so there isn't a circus like the Cubs deal has become. There is so much talent in the organization and I would hate to see the team get offtrack because of off the field issues.
what is your take on the heat being a factor on the Rangers staff in August? There has been an almost annual slide after the all star break and the ESPN talking heads attribute some of it to texas summers

the heat is really tough to deal with but I have to believe it can be done. I give full credit to the organization because everything is being done to help us get through it.
While it's tough, I also think it's been exaggerated to the point that it's a fall back excuse. Success is possible here, but you have to have a lot of motivated people making sure everything is taken care of.

understood and I hope it works out this year because I would really like to see that Rangers lineup come around and get into the postseason
an old Rangers organizational philosophy that has fallen by the wayside is sending AAA pitching away in trades for MLB regulars. This method would deplete the system and when the need to bring up guys for a week or two weeks in JUNE/JULY/AUGUST to the big club to spot start or fill out the pen would come up there would be zero in the system to work with. So I believe that the heat is a big factor but poor planning was probably a much bigger factor - in the past.
blast from the bad old days

quote:
July 19, 2000: Texas Rangers trade Esteban Loaiza to the Toronto Blue Jays for Darwin Cubillan and Michael Young.
The Blue Jays essentially made two mistakes regarding Loaiza. The first was trading him for a future stud (Young), while the second was letting Loaiza go a year before he won 21 games for the Chicago White Sox. The Rangers basically got a five-time All-Star and career .300 hitter for a pitcher the Blue Jays eventually got zero use from.
