Yeah, because it's so much more complicated than American sport...
And as if understanding it would make it immune from dislike - as if it's impossible to understand soccer and dislike it.
... we can't fathom the intricate brilliance of footy - American football is #1 in this country - but I guess that's a dumb sport and not much to learn because we are all so dumb...we can understand the extreme detail of American football but can't understand soccer.

And the Brits do the same thing with American football as your crowd does with soccer.
They deride "unsophisticated fans" who think American football is just Rugby in pads. And they latch onto American football because it's a niche sport in their country...and they are British snob American Football fans who hate their own football/soccer.
So you are not doing anything new, soccer board fan. It's such a cliche, that entire board.
