Question about spotting the ball

If one ref spots 1st down and the other spots the ball short, then one call supersedes the other. Then what’s the point of having the other guy?

It’s like one guy vote “yes” and the other guy vote “no”. The guy who voted “no” doesn’t count. The system only works if both vote the same.

You could say one ref in the game has a better view. I’d say both were guessing. And if you didn’t have the better view, then why even try to mark the ball especially if your call is not going to be accepted? Let the other guy spot.

That too. Why are we relying on these refs to guess? And You know they are guessing because on slow replay we can’t even see where the ball is.

The fact they don’t use GPS chips for spotting the ball is ridiculous.

I mean in this situation an overhead cam would have obviously shown the position of the ball. They're using spots as one of the few ways they have left to influence games
