Twenty-five years after Anthony Lynn left college, the Chargers head coach has earned his degree. He will walk at UNLV’s graduation Saturday, receiving his bachelor’s degree after leaving Texas Tech six hours short to sign as an undrafted free agent with the Broncos

quote:

Lynn, the first member of his family to attend college, spent the past year finishing his degree. Most of his work was done online, though he did travel to Las Vegas in recent months to meet with his professors.

The fact he even went back to complete those two, when in reality he didn't need to, shows he still values education and is an example

Props to him but it’s astounding to me that there was an NFL head coach who lacked a simple bachelor’s degree.

Is it really though? How much more qualified for that job would a guy be if he happened to have a University Studies degree from Oklahoma?

This is what it's all about.

How can he graduate from a university after only completing 6 hours there? I thought there was a minimum number of hours needed to obtain a degree at a university.

Can I take 114 hours at LSU and then go get a degree at a much more prestigious university like UL after only taking 6 hours?

Players who leave early for sports have different requirements I'm sure, someone like Lynn probably had to take a entry exam or something.

You’re can’t and he didn’t. He took 30 credits hours.

quote:

He worked with a firm and discovered, because of changes in his program, the six hours he needed to graduate had expanded to 30.

quote:

Lynn took courses in sociology and psychology, in public health and exercise, and sports science, doing his final project on a wide array of issues facing NFL players upon retirement.
