Jockey at Golden Gate Fields takes the day off because his wife is having a baby. So far, four of the the first five horses he was scheduled to ride have been winners, with four different jockeys

62-1 winner in the 10th @ Churchill

Yeah, but better than the wrath of his wife

Favorites holding pat today at Pimlico, but some coming from behind.
off-turf today, but I would imagine they stay on tomorrow- likely a good/ soft turf unless it is hot and it dries out. dirt should be fast as it looked pretty dried out by the end of the day today.
I am playing four races tomorrow: the Very One, the Gallorette, the Sir Barton, and the JW Murphy. I will likely get my arse handed to me as I only sort of actually studied the PPs on DRF.
As for the Preakness, I like Chrome and I like Dynamic Impact- I think he ran a credible race last out and the second place was the poor horse huffing and puffing behind Chrome in the San Felipe.
I want to absolutely play against ROC because he is the ultimate excuse horse, and never seems to win. Alas, my problem is I bet the tri box, and the MFer is likely to just get a nose it to ruin it for me.
I also have no idea what to do with Social Inclusion- I hated his Wood- watching a replay and there was no reason why he shouldn't have won. It wasn't that nasty a pace. However, his breeding is distance all the way. I guess I would be foolish not to put him in a tri box, especially since I don't like much else in the race. To Red Bullet or not to Red Bullet indeed.
So, I will probably just go CC, DI, SI, and GAR. Would have loved to have seen Samraat in here.
Not too worried about some big traffic jam. A faster pace usually actually spreads a field out more. There may be a 3 way duel, but whatcanyado?
yes, I am a vet. Was sorry to hear about Wise Dan, but if they did not do an enterotomy, then the only thing that will be an issue is the healing of the linea which should be good to go after 2 months. of course, horses that colicked once can often do so again, even if they are standing out in a pasture. The only difference is the time til someone notices the problem. However, I was intrigued to hear the quoted prognosis as "fair" and not "good". Also, horses' SI don't usually flip over on themselves but twist around or through something like a lipoma, or a tear in the mesentery. Maybe a lipoma had started a problem, but they caught it before it became completely strangulated. It is also possible that a bad enteritis caused something like an intussusception, but those also usually require resection. Apparently the surgeon saw a bit of SI he did not like on ultrasound. This usually means a thickened wall or just a but of really gas distended SI. I think it may be the former and the SI involved while questionable, was not dead, so they left it in and that would explain the fair vs good prognosis.
Of course, could be completely talking out of my arse
However, that was a quick surgery and it sounds like he recovered well, so he should be good to go. I certainly hope so.

You might as well have typed this in German.

Good guess on my part
So I'm the only one showing Cruz any love?
I just hope chrome can do it. I like him :)

It's not that I don't like Cruz. He just has more questions than answers IMO. I always try to dumb down races like this. Chrome has far and away best class. It's going to take something crazy to beat him. His blister, teams terrible, gets caught in speed duel. He gets the same trip in the derby and he rolls.

I'm hoping to make it up to keeneland for fall. Not sure if we'll have anything to run or not, but I can't wait to see it go back to dirt.
Posted on 5/16/14 at 10:11 pm to Aspercel
I can see Cruz running 3rd.

In the end , i just decided to bet DI place and show and be content losing my money on the other races.

Anyone have any thoughts of the general hitting the board at a big price? I give the guy who have me my horse a 5 horse tri box and I'm thinking of putting him in.
Ill like the filly more after she spends more time in the Amoss barn and I really can't jump on bayern. I did not like his last race. I know they are going blinkers off, but I still think he's up there early.

I think both Gen A Rod and Ria Antonia could run evenly to grab a show spot, but I really just don't think GAR wants the distance. RA just isn't fast enough.
I just watched a taped video from yesterday from CC coming back from training and LMAO when CC basically being ridden by Delgado with a pinkie or two on a long rein and a stable pony are walking by a camera well. The pony flips out, and CC just looks at him, and basically his look says, "Dude, it is a camera. Chill." And he and Delgado continue on their merry way plodding along. He gets anxious in the gate, but that is because he is ready to GO.

That's like lava man needing a pony when he ponied ill have another a few years ago.
Was excited to see perfect drift as chrome's pony for the derby. Made some money on him back in the day.

I am throwing out 4 horses:
2 General Arod
6 Ria Antonia
7 Kid Cruz
9 Pablo Del Monte
I am making bets with the other 6 hoping Crome loses.
Ex - $5 Box 1,4,5 - $30 bet
Tri - $1 1,4,5 w 1,3,4,5,8 w 1,3,4,5,8,10-$48 bet
Across the board - $5 on the 1 and 4
Either I hit big or lose it all.

Just talked to one of the vets handling Wise Dan. Says he's doing great and will have somebody on his back in 6 weeks as long as nothing crazy happens.

this is a really bad preakness field, might be the worst in past 25+ years
