Spoke to a parent lastnight in length about the current status of the coaching search at PA. She informed me that she spoke to two of the coaches on Staff yesterday afternoon and they informed her that the principal called a meeting with just coaches during the school day yesterday. During this meeting he presented the coaches on staff with a list of about 12-14 applicants that had applied to that point. He asked the coaches if they had any issues with any of the applicants and also presented the coaches with some questions that would be asked during the interview process. I found it odd that administration would do this since applicants still had until midnight to apply. I also found it interesting that the Principal and AD were asking coaches who they could work with and not work with.

I am sure I will get some boneheaded responses but has anyone ever heard of anything like this? Is this common with admins and faculty?

sounds like they don't want a HC to bring his own staff in...

I don't see what issue you are even trying to bring up.

It's a god damb HS basketball coach. Why wouldn't the other coaches at the school have any input or opinion?

Wow..Didn't realize that the Basketball position was open also. I agree with you that everyone is allowed to have their own opinion, but I thought it was the decision of the AD/Principal/School Board, not the Coaches on Staff, some of who might have applied for the said job.

From what she told me Sid Edward's name was not even on the list of applicants. However I did see Sid in Port Allen about a week ago and I would be shocked if he didn't throw his name in the hat. It appears to me that this whole situation is nothing more than Cluster frick.

Well you get rid of them as coaches but you don't lose them as teachers then you open up no spots to hire new teacher / coaches.....

Depends on size of school. That's usually a big point of emphasis in jobs is how many coaches you can bring & in my experience non-faculty coaches suck
