Bubba acted like a bitch over this. He was probably just scared to actually give it his best shot and lose. Everyone knows he hits it a mile it's not like he would lose some weird driving cred

He won the long drive twice in the times he participated I read the other day
One of them went like 340ish or some shite

From the article
quote:
The long drive contest was staged for several years in the 1950s and 1960s and then again in the 1970s and 1980s, and is best known for the fact that Jack Nicklaus won it both times he competed.
And if you think today's golfers are the undisputed kings of distance, check this out: The Bear won in 1963 in Dallas with a knock of 341 yards, and in 1964 in Columbus with a drive of 308 yards – in the rain! For both of those drives, Nicklaus swung a persimmon-headed driver with 11 degrees of loft and used a wound Titleist golf ball.

yeah, i've read that previously ... most folks know how long jack was, even if his prime was before they really started watching golf ...

That was pure good ole fashioned American horse power with cheese burgers and ciggs. Even hated practice.

Jack would be hitting it 500 yards with today's equipment.

He could carry 18's green from Santa Maria's tips.
