Right off the bat this AM I thought scores might go low, but that quickly changed as the morning went on.
Rory made it look way too easy with that run of birdies.

Just got back to the house. Was a great morning and very pleasant weather. Once the clouds went away, sat under a tree at the 4th green and watched quite a few groups tee off on #1, entire 4th hole and then tee off on #5.

Followed JD through hole 8 and then got in grand stands at 14 to wait on Tigers group. Stayed there and watched Bubba’s group and a couple more.

Concessions ran out of quite a few food items by 11. Which sucks when you have food and drink included with your passes.

Ready for the weekend now. Hope JD can make the cut. Quite funny to see him zooming around in a golf cart.

Gonna sound weird…but something I’ve noticed about Oklahoma since living here.

I can get 3 inches of rain overnight…but once the sun pops out coupled with the always breezy condition, this soil dries out quickly.

We had storms roll through just before 7 tee time. Cloud cover until about 9:30AM. Course played soft and slow early, then quickly dried out and got hard and fast. I also think that took a toll on bunker play as well. As the day went on all the bunker shots I saw seemed to be damn near boded and rolled off back of green or damn near it.

Apparently this is "old style" sand they're not used to. It's more grainy with the tiny pebbles that make it impossible to spin the ball. Think more like Gulf beaches than the manicured stuff they (and pretty much everybody else) are used to.

Very nice for you! Think you can give folks any perspective on the grades and undulations of any of the greens?

Yea. This morning we got some good rain and a line of storms so that sand was a bit more dense. Saw some bunker shots early when we got out to the course and they looked “normal” I guess. Once it dried and got back to its normal state, shite hit the fan…literally. The first bladed bunker shot I saw was the group prior to Tigers on 14. Was like a damn rocket launch.

Here's an idea, Hawgy.
Think there's a chance you could get a picture or 2 of Greens/Fairways/Tee Boxes as you walk by?
Most don't realize how much actual undulation there is at these major courses.
Posting some would be informative and very cool.

This is one of my favorite courses in existence, place looks to be incredible.

I remember watching and it blew my mind in 2001 for the US Open.

I’ve got some pics posted on my Hawgeye twitter page from today. You can see the elevation change in some of those.

Hawgeye twitter post

If you see a couple pics with two greens, that’s 9 and 18. If you see the rise to the left, that’s the tee box for 10 and 1. Quite the height differential. The back side of the course is a little flatter, but the front side is rolling hills and doesn’t seem possible for many flat lies even in the middle of fairways.

Windy as heck this morning. 20 mph with even stronger gusts. Should be interesting.

Not seeing precip anywhere around there yet on radar.
Cool breeze or humid?
