I still think his career is about done. It's just not something to mess with.

Manning actually just got out of surgery. No plans for injured reserve as doctors monitor fusion result, per sources.

why the hesitation to IR his arse?

I think the only way he would come back, if healthy, will be if they are still in playoff contention. I think they are reserving the right to shelve him until that becomes clear.

This article from a spinal surgeon, who apparently knows Manning's DR., doesn't make it sound nearly as bad as our MSB experts are predicting:

@injuryexpert: If reports of cervical fusion are correct, this is potentially career ending.

Not sure how he comes back this year with a prognosis of a 2-3 month recovery. IR will be inevitable unless Colts are in serious play off hunt with Collins. You knew it was bad when they gave Collins 3 milly. That spoke volumes to me

My post was in response to the multiple people saying his career is likely over. It seems like he'll almost definitely miss this entire season

It just depends on how well he can go on to strengthen the muscles innervated by those nerve roots in the next few months. Also when you fuse one level you are going to naturally have further degenerative changes at other levels (your neck has to move SOMEWHERE). For an NFL qb who is constantly scanning the field, getting hit, looking in multiple directions that degeneration will likely occur more rapidly than in one with a sedentary occupation.

I cant imagine him getting a medical clearance to play football with a cervical fusion being that a surgical fusion is a contraindication for just about any force applied to that area.

That post is almost as obnoxious as your "I'm begging for a job" posts... Nice work.
