Kelly brings a lot more pocket pressure than Love ever did.
Love was just kind of solid, never really made an impact but wasnt useless either
He couldve beat out kelly but i dont he could have 20 pounds under weight or in the middle of working his way back from that weight.
I agree its kind of a dick move, but i think the diabetes was more of the reason for the timing of the release moreso than the actual release
ETA Armstead had a 1st or 2nd round grade out of USC, but a heart condition made him go undrafted (discrimination?) and he blew up in Canada and teams were clamoring for him thjs offseason

Yea, like I said he had 4.5 sacks and 25 starts with Pats. Seems like a younger/cheaper option than Kelly. Pats, I would have thought, would have brought him to camp to at least look at him. Especially if he has weight back up and good strength still.
Will be interesting to see how this gets handled going forward and if Love seeks out a lawyer.

I want to hear from the Pats first. They have been very good to injured players in the past, Matt Light and Marcus Cannon come to mind. I could see a situation where he tried to hide it from management and they were just burned by Faniene less than 2 years ago.

Hell, instead of cutting Stalworth after his injury, they put him on IR so he could get his full amount and then cut him.

Smart Move and is not discrimination.

I am diabetic and I understand
I am and I don't. It's a disease, not a disability. Most type 2 diabetics that are properly treated gain weight. I only lose weight if I slack and my sugar is way off. If he takes his meds and maintains a proper diet he shouldn't have problems maintaining weight.

Something is off here, Type II does not experience unexpected weight loss, thats a sign of Type I.
Incorrect. If I went off my meds I'd lose a couple of pounds a week regardless of my diet.

I know from a type 2 case from a person close to me that he experienced weight loss, blurred vision, and frequent urination.
My endocrinologist has explained to me that untreated I am literally pissing away my weight. My body doesn't know how to properly process foods so I pee away a lot of the protein and fat that I'd otherwise be retaining.

This was an episode of playmakers

According to PFT the reason was diabetes which could lead to lawsuit
Posted on 5/16/13 at 12:15 pm to tduecen
Because it's a bullshite reason. With proper diet and medication there is no reason that he can't maintain weight and strength and play at a high level.

PFT is running this story purely on what an agent said. There is no bias there, surely.
Oh, and what discrimination? Players are constantly cut for injuries. I wouldn't be ecstatic if that was the only reason he got cut, but it's the nature of the business.

Former Patriots DT Kyle Love's agent says his client will not pursue legal action against the team right now. Per PFT, the Patriots cut Love for one reason: He has Type-2 diabetes. The former starting defensive tackle could have a case under the Americans with Disabilities Act, but Love's current focus is on finding a new team. The Patriots clearly didn't think Love would be able to contribute this season after recently losing 20 pounds. There's a good chance another team will.
quote:
Jaguars claimed DT Kyle Love off waivers from the Patriots. Love, 26, was waived by the Pats after recently being diagnosed with Type-2 diabetes. New England gave him the choice of sitting out a year or taking his walking papers and finding work elsewhere. Love started 24 games over the last two seasons, recording 58 tackles and 4.5 sacks. He'll likely compete with Roy Miller to fill the Brandon Mebane nose-tackle role in Gus Bradley's defense.
Can move on from all this now, if the Pats gave him the choice to sit on the IR this year or get cut than they would have no discrimination case at all and it kind of makes the Agent seem like kind of a dick

Instead of just cutting the guy they should've give him a job elsewhere.

He obviously wanted to continue his career THIS year, so i dont see him agreeing to do that

Well that agent looked like an idiot.
Posted on 5/16/13 at 8:12 pm to Jcorye1
Yep. And i think rule number one of being an agent is dont piss off Bill Belicheck because hell pretty much act like you dont exist if you do
