Paris Olympics...in Tahiti?

Paris is going to host the summer Olympics.
There is a big fuss, however, about upgrades on the tower that judges will use for the Olympic surfing competition. The Fuss comes from Tahiti natives who liked the one they had, without the upgrades.
You may call it Tahiti, but for the Olympics, French Polynesia will do just fine.

Will we get tons of indigenous peoples chants and ceremonies followed by some white guilt pageantry in the press?

I can’t wait for the indigenous peoples’ statement before the opening ceremony in Paris, acknowledging the land they are competing on was originally the home of the Gauls.

I mean I kinda get it. This isn't some boogyman environmental threat. If the tower is actually fricking up a really beautiful reef in a beautiful and relatively unspoiled area I'd probably be pissed too. Especially for a couple of days of competition.
