Secondly, despite being a close game, that game was bbbbboooooooooooorrrrrrrrring. If I had to watch the Yankees play stall ball all season long, I'd gougue out my eyeballs. What a horribly unentertaining team to watch. The game was four hours of Yankee batters adjusting their jerseys. It was brutal.
That's a new topic for you Baloo, never seen you discuss that one.

Well, it's reason #1 why the Yankees are evil. They are destroying the pace of the game, rendering it unwatchable. I absolutely hate it. The reason I keep bringing it up is because the Yankees are the worst offender.
Sorry for wanting games to be entertaining and for umpires to actually enforce the rules. I'll also note you don't actually defend the Yankees and their stall tactics, which is completely indefensible.
It is easily the worst problem in baseball today. Play the damn game.

Hasn't really bothered me at all.

I don't defend it because it is pointless to defend. What's the problem? The Yankees are also one of the best teams at working the count, that prolongs games as well. They're 2nd in the league (.001 behind the Twins) in OBP and score the most runs by a good margin...if it works for them then do it.

by extending abs(taking and fouling off tons of pitches) the bombers step out a lot cause they have such lenghty at bats

Finally, Ron Ron proved again he has no idea how to manage a bullpen. I went on about a 20 minute rant when he brought Francisco in the game (I had 20 minutes to fill as Thames played with his jock before getting up to hit). Ron Ron went to his pen and found two relievers (O'Day and Oliver) who were both completely on their game. They each pitched to one batter. He then went to the pen again, like he was floundering around looking for a guy having an off-night, and sure enough - he found it! And all of a sudden, Ron Ron's got a slow hook with a pitcher who got battered the night before, after yanking the effective pitchers after one batter.
Couldn't have said it better myself. He's overmanaging now instead of overmanaging.

But it's not just working counts. It's the act of not hitting. I've never seen a team call timeout and adjust themselves so much. The game took FOUR friggin' hours to play. and Cliff Lee works really fast. most of his starts are about 2 1/2 hours.
I absolutely cannot stand watching a baseball game and spend most of the game watching guys call timeout to adjust their equipment. It removes all flow from the game. I really don't know how Yankees fans can watch their team night in and night out. We just played two extremely tight ball games, both decided in the final at bats, and I found that they were two of the least exciting games all year. Just brutal to watch.
It's not long games, it's long games in which nothing is happening and the ball is not in play.

Walt Terrell's opinion...
"Quite honestly, it's getting ridiculous," said righthander Walt Terrell, who was the winning pitcher for the Yankees during that historically brief game in 1989. "I blame the batters more than anybody else."
Mr. Terrell retired in 1992 after winning 111 games during an 11-year career, which included three seasons with the Mets. He now coaches high school and youth baseball in Erlanger, Ky. He said his players have taken on some bad habits—many of which he assessed as "bullcrap"—from watching today's professionals. One of his biggest pet peeves: players who step out of the batter's box to adjust their gloves after every pitch.
"Hey, your gloves were just as tight a couple seconds ago," he said. "Maybe if they weren't tight enough, you need a new pair."
Mr. Terrell said he was watching a game on television recently, then flipped to another station to watch a sitcom. When he returned to the game a half-hour later, the teams had completed a half-inning. It is all very mystifying to him. "Long games," he said, "were not fun."
