the TO before the breaker in the 1st seemed legit IMO...
Yea I definitely thought it was legit too. The way I knew was he hit a phenomenol shot to give him 2 break point for the set. He called the trainer and proceeded to purposefully hit 4 straight shots into the net and give Delpo the game and send it to tiebreak. Seemed obvious he was giving that game up and you don’t do that up 2 break points unless you’re hurt.
But when did Fed get all this hate for injuries? I don’t remember it. I remember people praising him for coming through and still making the semis during it. Maybe I’m wrong though.

Fed got the "hate" after his mono episode when the first signs of a slide started (which coincided with Nadal's rise) and then I believe it was last year that Fed had some back issues and I believe he raised it after his lose to Berdych at Wimbledon. Berdych called Fed out about using the back excuse in the post-match press conference and, even as a Fed fan, I agreed with Berdych. Seemed like it was nothing more than an excuse. That being said, Nadal has now turned into the Williams sisters IMO. Seems as though the guy is never 100% if he loses the match. He'll make the comment about being "sick," "tired," or "injured," and then follow it up with the "I don't want to make excuses, no." Well, you just did!

I’ve had this argument with all my sports buddies, and I’m convinced tennis is the most injury prone sport in the world. It might not have the cumulative lasting effects like football due to the lack of collisions, but I don’t think people understand the pounding these guys take. Their season is as long if not longer than any other sport and it’s nothing but stop and go for the entirety of every match.

start-stop sports create lots of nagging injuries
baseball and hammies are another good example
DEL POTRO IS BACK!
