From what I've read, low 90s FB that can touch 95+ coupled with a hard curve. Changeup needs to be refined (like all HS pitchers), but he is big and projectable. Keith Law had him rated as the 76th prospect, so he's not a huge reach at 69.

Purke is still falling. Would be cool if the Astros took a chance on him if he is still there in the 3rd or 4th round. Couldn't be any worse than previous draft picks in those rounds made by this group.

3 picks in the 3rd round. Hope ppl like Nola, Eirmann, Cave, Baranik keep falling.

Brett Eibner and Derek Deitrich still piss me off tto this day. Purpura and Uncle D really broke one off in us that year.

Matt Purke just selected by the Nats.

Don't forget Chad Bettis and Andrew Cashner. Cashner told the Astros brass he would sign with the Astros if they picked him and gave him some small amount like 75k out of HS. Of course Uncle D passes on the offer and Cashner ends up being picked 19th overall a few years later by the Cubs.

No shot they can sign Purke along with Rendon. I'd guess he's going back to TCU

Great pick if he can stay healthy. Here's a scouting report. Baseball Beginnings

Dont like Armstrong
If he can stay healthy the worst case scenario is a back of the bullpen arm.

Nope. But they do take the 35th overall rated prospect who is a... yep, catcher.

Yeah, gotta stay healthy though
but no big deal as the third round is a major crap shoot anyway

I like Jungmann, but every scout has high praise for Springer

Can't be mad at the Astros it isn't like they made insane reaching picks.
Hopefully they actually sign the guys, which they have done the last couple of years.
Drayton and his six shooters are still heading out the door
