I think Mac was one of the best doubles players ever. Maybe Tony Roach was better. He was winning everything with John Fleming, who could serve and then had nothing else that was world class.

Imagine watching a match from the Goodyear blimp. The line of flight of the ball is the line from where the ball leaves the opponent's racket to where it will bounce the second time. Wherever you are on the court, the shortest distance to get to that shot is by taking a line of movement that is perpendicular the the line of flight of that shot (I.e. approaching the line of that shot by taking a right angle to it). This is a fairly advanced thing to do as it will require hitting a lot of shots while the ball is on the rise. Players like Federer, Agassi, and Jack Kramer all do/did this exceptionally well. By traveling shorter distances, movement is made more efficient. A player like Nadal deviates from this rule of geometry, but overcomes the resulting problem with amazing quickness. You can see quite easily, how much more movement is required by his technique. This is one of the reason that there has been speculation that his body won't hold up whereas, Agassi was able to win a major after his 30th birthday and Fed is still in the hunt for them.
I thought that's what you might be getting at. I've never consciously thought about it this way.

When you're 50 you'll be glad I told you about this. If you re stood mover, you were probably doing this intuitively anyway. As you get older, being conscious of this can help you when father time, that cock sucker, won't.

I meant a good mover
::knock on wood:: but I still move really well. I can slide around on a hard court like it's clay (a la Djoker). But I'm 32. At some point, my movement will start to decline. That will be a bummer.

So what channel are the matches on today? Gotta program my DVR before I leave for work. Idk if I'm an idiot but it always seems like they make it so damn difficult to find out what channel matches are on. Thanks guys!

Looks like its on the tennis channel right now (Nadal/Ferrer) and then Djoker/Fed are on NBC around lunch time. Probably tape delayed

So McEnroe just says that Federer can entrench himself as the second best clay court in today's game with a win over Djoker today. What does beating Djoker today have anything to do with that? Fed has already won the French and been runner-up numerous times in his career. He has also beaten Djoker at the French previously. McEnroe didn't say who would lay claim to that hypothetical "second best clay player" (it didn't seem like a "of all time discussion" as that would easily go to Borg), but I don't think Djoker would have any sort of claim to the #2 spot for clay with his first French Open final.

The Nadanimal is loose in France.

If Nadal plays Fed tomorrow, he wins in 3 sets.
If he plays Djoker, think its still 3, but 4 is the most it will go.

The fact that major tennis is still shown at times on tape delay makes me want to take a spiked bat to the head of network execs. This isn't fvcking the 70s you clowns. We have a thing called internet. Show the damn thing live.

Why the hell not? TC was showing them warming up 30 minutes ago.

If you live on the east coast, then it looks like you got it live. If you live somewhere else, then it comes on at 11 AM wherever you live after NBC's morning programming finishes.
Been following it online. Looks like Federer went up a break early, but then Djoker broke right back and now has two break points/set points as Fed is serving down 4-5.

And Djoker takes the first set 6-4

Federer got the early break to start the second set and, surprisingly, was able to consolidate the break to go up 2-0. I'm sure Djoker will break Federer back once or twice shortly.
