I would imagine this contract eases the pain some, but it had to be brutal after he settled for 1/8 last offseason.

All the Ranger baws on Twitter saying Texas is likely to turn up their interest in Edwin, but it's still nothing more than a possibility.

Not something that's likely to happen.

He still lost 2/37. I would be sick to my stomach, but I am glad for him that he got the first 70 because it matters a lot more than the next 37.

Also seems like the Rockies plan to mostly play Desmond at 1B, which seems like a puzzling waste of his defensive value. I'm not even sure his bat plays at first base.

There is no room anywhere else in the infield. Stick him in the corner outfield?

The Rockies have so many attractive hitters. I want them to be good.

I hear you. I can't imagine losing 30 million is ever easy, but the marginal value of each million once you get that high must not be near as high as those first few million.

Na. Teams just forfeit the picks and the team losing the player gets a sandwich

I just don’t get the point of signing him in the first place if it is too play 1B. Probably could have got Encarncion for not much more (not sure how long he will last at 1B I guess) or Trumbo for less. I don’t love Trumbo, but I rather his bat than Desmond’s. Maybe they will trade an outfielder to clear room though. Or use Desmond in multiple positions like the Cubs do.

I would still love it. Just as long as that other former Blue Jay doesn't come here

The Rockies will trade someone. I think it's a foregone conclusion someone is getting moved. Maybe they land a king's ransom for Blackmon.

I kind of want Bautista and have him play first base next to Odor.

I would call my ticket rep and demand my season ticket money back if we signed Bautista.

It would really make me question my fandom if they signed him

Are you serious? Dude... You put Bautista and Odor on the same team and mix in a little bit of Gomez -- that is bonafide top-grade entertainment right there.

I don't need a Major League 2 own-team fight going on in the dugout

I think this is a big overpay for Desi, having watched him swing from his heels with his eyes closed and strike out a million times.

He might hit a 600 foot homer at Coors though.

Lol I can't say it wouldn't be entertainment, but I just couldn't support it.
