You do realize it’s been nearly 20 yrs since Purdue made it to the elite 8, right?

I don't understand why a defender would even try to block a 3 point attempt in that situation to begin with. Just get your hands up in a controlled manner

The Tenn player got juked in the opposite direction and was recovering. I think he knew he couldn't block it, but was trying to get his hands in the shooter's vision through a lateral jump.

The issue is he poorly estimated the Purdue shooter jumping forward. Edwards jumped towards the basket and swung his right leg to balance his body drift. That's what the Tenn player hit.

I have a lot of sympathy for someone playing hard and just misjudging the angle. It happens, and he was just trying to recover hard after being faked out.

Let’s see the picture to prove it.

That doesn't prove his hip hit him. (crazy sequence of hi words there)

It proves his back hit him.

The reason I have no issue with the foul is easiest to see in Edwards's right arm and elbow. In a normal follow through, the right arm goes straight forward.

You can see that getting clipped spins him enough that his arm gets jerked down and to the right. Affecting someone's normal follow through like that...it isn't always called, but I don't think you can be mad it was.
