The NBA does. They call fouls differently in the playoffs than they do in the regular season.

The NBA struck gold with the first round this year. They aren't going to risk massive viewership of a game 7 because George made a stupid arse mistake.

Is that part of the rule?

Is Pacers/Hawks a big rating draw?

Rule No. 12, Section VII Item C. of the NBA's rulebook states: "During an altercation, all players not participating in the game must remain in the immediate vicinity of their bench. Violators will be suspended, without pay, for a minimum of one game and fined up to $50,000."

Where?

I believe so. Game 7's tend to grab more attention than normal

It's all a raitings game for the NBA

If it was any other team or series you would agree with this call

It would be criminal to suspend a player for that. I get that that's how the "law is written" but by that sense police should be dishing out speeding tickets in a 45 mph zone for 46 mph. It's ok to use a little common sense in these situations

It's good that PG isn't suspended.

But I don't think you can fault an ATL fan who thinks he should be suspended.

If you look at how it was applied to Amare in '07, PG should be suspended, regardless of how the rule reads.

Again, for the record, I'm glad PG isn't suspended.

I know game 7's bring people in. They have this one starting at 4:30 so I didn't know.

Didn't know if this series had been rating well or not.

how so? I don't agree with them being suspended, but I remember Amare going to the scorers table way outside the vicinity of the bench

The Rule doesn't support the suspension. He was within 3-5 feet of his bench which is easily the vicinity

Right that's why I said twice in the post, I'm glad PG isn't suspended.

I wasn't directing that simply towards you, just saying they got that wrong

I haven't seen it in a while, don't remember him being out by the scorers table though.

I could definitely be wrong about that though.
