Doesn't matter. 49ers don't play a base 3-4 defense for the majority of the time; in fact, it is Nickel and Dime most of times. J. Smith and Isaac move in and A. Smith and Brooks move to the ends. Dorsey can rotate with Isaac and J. Smith and essentially be a 4-3 DT.
LOVE IT.
Plus, even in base 3-4, if Dorsey rotates in as DE, I still see him doing relatively well with the talent around him.

Ive never understood the hang up for a down linemen. Its not like he is being switched to DB. Football is football. Knuckles up or down shouldnt make a huge difference. Coaches wont put him in a bad spot.
