Dang, no more Monty on Monty, one of the best bits done by 1310 - The Ticket. Also listening to his weekly visits with the Hardline, it's hard not to love the guy. So personable and down-to-earth - basically the polar opposite of Rick Carlisle and Jason Garrett. And they Stars were playing lights out after a rough start. Dang.

They're saying it's not a racism thing either.

my gut is telling me that we won't get an actual reason in the 11am presser.

Stars GM Jim Nill presser live now.

He's not really giving any additional information outside of the scope of the official statement released this morning.

He received word of this issue via phone late last week & conducted an internal investigation. Met with Monty this morning & "had no choice" but act in this manner.
Nothing related to a criminal investigation.
Nothing legal or specific being "divulged".

He's said literally nothing. Somebody will have the story soon, I'm sure.

Yeah, that was a pointless presser but I guess you have to have one. It'll probably go the route of Ron Washington in that we'll never get a concrete reason as to why

The sanctimonious journalists are the worst. I know what it is and it’s bad but I can’t say what it is.

Johnathan Shipman (105.3) has said he thinks he knows what happened, but of course won’t disclose it until someone confirms it.

Yeah, what a clown. Just don’t say anything til you’ve got the bag secured.

Of course the dumbasses at The Fan would drop that stupid line. I think that one is a constant in the Colin Cowturd playbook as well.

"I know what happened but I'm going to wait until someone else says it and then claim I knew it" stance

I like this though:

This is why the 1310 The Ticket is still the #1 in DFW.

Also, IF anyone on the radio knew* anything, it would be Julie Dobbs (Ticket). Her husband is also on the coaching staff.

*her husband COULD be a strong alpha & have her on a huge "shut your mouth" command. If so, she's doing a good job of playing the role that she knows nothing (yet).

Well I actually don’t like the ticket either. The Fan is just as bad though.

The local media is getting worse and worse overall.

I mean she shouldn’t be breaking any news regarding the Stars. That is a massive conflict of interest.

I'd be willing to bet Nill and Lites are the only personnel that know.

I know in the presser Nill said he hadn't told the players what had happened, so I don't think the video coach would have knowledge of it either

My current unanswered question is that if it wasn't criminal, does that mean it wasn't #metoo related?

They did say it was something that happened in the last week, along with the call to report the issue.

If it was something to do with a hooker or stripper, they're opening a HUGE Pandora's Box across all pro sports...so, my brain tells me that can't be it.

If it was gambling, they'd come out & say it. But too many people that know Monty say he doesn't gamble.

I wonder if it had to do with player tampering/recruiting of some sort? He came from college hockey. Maybe he was in touch with active or minor league players trying to get them to head to Dallas & crossed a/too many lines in that area? But worthy of immediate firing-what could he have really done that egregious?

this is certainly a VERY special circumstance, but if I'm a coach on a guy's staff & he's been fired 1st thing in the AM & now you're offering me/my colleagues a promotion, I'm going to want to know what happened to my previous boss before I take on the job.

Also, you'd have to call your wife (assuming married) to say "hey honey, uh...yeah, our good/best friend & boss has been fired in the last 2 hours & now they're offering me his job. I'm going to take it before our GM has his 11am press conference. Just wanted you to know (not discuss this life changing situation with you). Love you, have a great Tuesday..."

I have to believe that the guys he spends 6-10+ hours/day with along with all that time on the road, those guys know what happened & are being extremely tight lipped (likely by way of firm legal warning to do so). Right?
