Soft one by Fleury, but good response on the PP. I hope the Caps were watching the execution on that one...

Montreal is gonna get pounded this series...they are gonna go from no physicality to hammer time...

Markov is hating life after that hit from Cooke. They definitely play a more physical game than most people give them credit for. They were 3rd in the league in hits in the regular season and really scrapped against Ottawa. That's the key to scoring in the playoffs; gotta fight for the rebounds and positioning in front of the net.

truth. If Markov is out this series goes 5 maybe...

Damn nice to see Stall get one this early too. He's such a key component to their overall prospects.

Only 7 shots, but they were almost all good shots. They're setting up plays as opposed to just spamming the net. They had a few narrow misses; good start to the game. An early lead is always a good thing against Montreal; it forces them to open up a little bit since they have to score. Stretching it to 2 would be especially nice in that regard. They're definitely not built to score 3 or 4 goals on a consistent basis.

Guerin in front of net 1st goal, Kunitz on 2nd...nobody in front for washington except that 1 last goal...

All 3 goals scored by different players too. They're keeping the trend from the first series where 12 different guys scored. That's what makes them dangerous. It's a true team and they execute as a unit instead of relying on one guy to do it all. And with Markov out for at least the rest of the game, it's not going to get easier. The other hting of course is you'd expect some fatigue as the game wears; especially since they went with a short bench in the Washington series.
