To each his own, but I don't think they ever crossed the line that Beckham crossed Sunday.

Hell, a few years ago LSU took an axe or a sledgehammer onto the field during pregame and when the ran out of the tunnel against South Carolina. I don't think Clowney feared for his life as a result. People are really reaching for a reason to excuse Beckham's idiotic actions on Sunday, and unfortunately there are no good excuses.

The problem here is that every week in every game, names are being called. I have been on the sidelines for nearly a hundred times now, and I don't even notice anymore. It is part of the game in any professional sport. Get in the head of your opponent. Take him out of the game mentally.

I don't know if names were called in OBJ's direction. Heck, I would be shocked if they weren't. I would be shocked if the Giants didn't yell names and expletives as as well. I would be shocked if this didn't happen on any given Sunday on any football field across the nation.

But I do know one thing, I have never seen it used as an excuse, before now, to intentionally try to injure another player.

If Odell Beckham Jr felt so torn over the alleged names called, would he have hugged multiple Panthers defensive players after the game? Shaq Thompson, Roman Harper, Luke Keuchly to name a few. Would he have snuck in a pinch on Cam Newton's rear during Newton's on camera interview after the game, trying to get a reaction from Newton? I was standing behind Newton and witnessed it myself and thought nothing of it. Last week Mike Tolbert smacked Cam Newton's rear during an interview and got a hilarious reaction. No big deal.

I've watched that gif 10 times and I still can't help but chuckle as to how malicious people want ti to be. Beckham has his left hand under Norman's chinstrap doing God knows what and then takes it away right as the whistle is blown. Norman picks him up and "body slams" him in what might be the weakest body slam in the history of the move. Beckham proceeds to throw 4-5 punches during the game and specifically targets Norman's head with a helmet to helmet hit later in the game.

Yep, all completely called for and appropriate responses to the Panthers getting him off of his game.

But, but, he was threatened with a bat and had to protect himself.

A) Did LSU walk over to Clowney on his side of the field in the field during pregame warmups and threaten him while waving the "axe or sledgehammer" at him?

B) I don't think Beckham feared for his life, but I fell that Beckham knew the refs weren't going to protect him like their job defines them to so it escalated into every man for himself out there.

I'm a big LSU fan and a big Beckham fan. He was 100% in the wrong yesterday - provoked or not.

Hell, if anything, he has looked worse as the story has gone on and people have tried to blame a bat during pregame and anti-gay remarks. How petty.

Since you are keeping tally, how many punches did Norman throw?

Yep, I like to watch the guy play. I have nothing against him, but all of this is hilarious. Can't believe some scrub that wasn't even dressed out mind fricked him so bad. The best thing he can do is try to get the suspension overturned and drop all of this other bs.

It is hard to tell which LSU fans are just trolling at this point and which ones are serious.

No clue, but I don't believe it matters. The threat to Clowney's safety that night was just at high as the threat to OBJs - non-existant.

That is on OBJ and the Giants then. A few threats and anti-gay remarks in pregame, a "body slam" early in the game, and OBJ proceeds to drop a sure-fire TD that proved to be the difference in the game and then turned in one of the more embarrassing and counterproductive 55 minutes of football you'll find.

Look, I've got no problem with people criticizing the Panthers, but defending OBJ is where I draw the line. He should be in control of his actions and take responsibility for those actions.

If you'd like to provide me with a link I can count them. I'd be more than happy to provide you with a link to OBJ's actions.

Tigerskin and the Jeff12312312312 guy are serious and they fail to realize how embarrassing it is.

But thats my problem, yes Beckham was an arse but so was Norman and no one wants to call him on his behavior.

Bingo. I think when lawyers get involved that Beckham's suspension will be overturned because the NFL can't defend the Panthers antics and the lack of referee control.

I've got no problem with people calling out Norman/the Panthers, but defending Beckham in the process is where I draw the line. Beckham definitely crossed the line. This shite wouldn't be half the story it is if Beckham didn't target Norman with the head to head hit.

As much as I've criticized Beckham since Sunday, I actually agree with this.

I believe Hasselbeck on ESPN said that the NFL's conduct policy says that Beckham can be fined for his actions but not suspended since it is his first offense of that type (helmet to helmet).

Everyone is all worked up over him trying to ear hole him, and then they discuss all the other behavior. Norman acted the EXACT same way with exception to the ear hole shot. I get it, the ear hole shot was pretty egregious but if people want to talk about ODBs other antics, then talk about Norman's as well.

Yes it was, and it should have been flagged, fined, and was cause for ejection. But no one has been suspended for such a hit this year and who knows when the last time was? Those type of shots happen all the time. Norman didn't even go to the ground, and regardless of intent, what the actual result was does factor into punishment.

Very few people disagree with this. Beckham should have been ejected and that was on the refs.

But how can people overlook the way Norman acted, the bat nonsense, and the way him and Finnegan were quoted and what they said?
