No way is it Coyle's fault.

The defense slumped, particularly late in the season, and finished 20th in the NFL in points allowed. It is their lowest finish in the most important statistical category since 2009.
Interestingly, part of the argument against Coyle is that he took over a defense that was No. 6 in the NFL in points allowed and in his three years the unit regressed to No. 7, No. 8, and then No. 20 last season.
Obviously it's the new guy who was considered the #1 free agent available.

How can you not blame Coyle? We run the softest zone scheme in all of football. Receivers are catching passes at the sticks untouched. Then, running the stupidest stunts at the line of scrimmage creating gaping run lanes.
Man, I wasn't sure exactly what to expect this year, but Christ this is bad. Everyone needs to be fired.

Actually, after watching today I'm not so sure you guys are correct. The DB play has regressed significantly. And you're right about the soft zones. Jones used to make plays at S. I can't even remember him contesting a play this season.

The support for Coyle being a dunce is that Suh never acted like this in Detroit. He was a thug to opponents, but there was never any evidence of insubordination. I think he is disturbed by what he sees there.

You cannot be serious. There were multiple stories about insubordinate behavior toward Jim Schwartz.

I know a lot of players thought he was an idiot, but I didn't remember anything like Suh ignoring the defensive play call.
