I haven't looked back into the past that much but will Memphis get to stay in the South Region and play in their home arena??

I was trying to think of a recent team in Mens Basketball that has gotten to play a regional game in their hometown.

First/Second Round is slightly understandable, and its very common in Women's...

If a team plays more than three home games in an arena they can't play there in the tournament

Another way to create upsets and therefore excitement instead of crowning a real champion.

Did not know this...thanks

I'm guessing this doesn't apply for the women as LSU played in the PMAC last year...

It's only for the men's tournament, which people actually go to

The women's tournament encourages teams playing in their own arena so that they sell more than 300 tickets.

I thought they intentionally put women's games in their home arenas... I wouldn't drive to Prarieville for a women's game much less travel several hours. But with it in your backyard attendance is much better I'm sure.

I would drive the three blocks to the PMAC for a women's game unless it was the championship.

Just to note you can get to play in nearby favorable courts. See Duke/NC Greensboro regional.

They used to have the top 16 teams host at their home arena up until a few years ago. Now they pick sites in advance, but most are geared towards getting the popular teams to stay at home the first two rounds.

Only two sites out of the 16 this year are not on campus locations for the first two rounds: Duluth, GA (Gwinnett Center) and Columbus, OH (Nationwide Center). Both of these metro areas have more than one D1 team located there though.

Absolutely. Villanova got put in Philly a few years ago because it was at the sixers' court, not the nova court.
