Now, please point out to me where not allowing players to do commercials or take a cut of their jersey sales fits anywhere in with their mission or core values.

It's against their rules. Not sure what you are grasping at. How much clearer could it be.

That's not surprising

That you have nothing to back up your arguement other than "that's how it is?" None.

The NCAA is a quasi public institution, they don't just "make rules," or they aren't supposed to be able to. But they've duped idiots like you into giving them unilateral power to exploit 18-22 year old kids.

if they want to play in the NFL, they have one viable option and that's NCAA football. your whole premise is flawed from the start.

Why is that the problem of the NCAA? Perhaps the NFL should start a farm system.

The NBA's G-League allows high school players now, as does Europe. Why do so few choose this route? It's nearly zero.

They have a free one, the NCAA. Why spend billions when you have something built that keeps your expenses down.

It's increased by a lot. And the reason the numbers are so low is because of the corruption in the NCAA that is rampant and known about, along with the suppression of salaries in the G League for those guys.

If players want to get paid, fine, but include their scholarship, free meals, room and board, and all other things other students have to pay for that the players don't, and tax it as income. "Fair" is all they want, right? Well there ya go.

Why would you only do this to athletic scholarships? Or would this be for all scholarships at the schools?

Pretty sure regular students on scholarship don't have to pay taxes for the scholarship.

Why would the NFL start one if they're getting it for free now?

What a fricking simpleton you are. Who is being exploited? Virtually every NCAA athlete gets more in aid that they produce for the school.

Kids that PUT THEIR BODIES ON THE LINE and NEVER RECEIVE A CENT FOR 3 YEARS AT MINIMUM. I mean with one and done per the NBA, basketball's second-rate at worst but still makes tons of money for the schools and facilities, this is BIG BUSINESS THAT PEOPLE BET MONEY ON and the BEST PLAYER ON THE TEAM receives the SAME as the 85TH-RANKED PLAYER, thats some straight up socialism bro.

In reality, there's no reason not to, and it wouldn't harm the NCAA at all.

I think most people in this thread have said they're ok with the players not getting paid by the NCAA.

No one is saying the NCAA should pay them.

That's fine, as long as you're not going to act like the NCAA has the student athletes interest at heart and at the forefront of what they do.

If you concede that they don't give a shite about the student athletes, then ok.

My fandom is not conditioned on whether these players are paid or not, its such a ridiculous and ignorant argument we all know it happens under the table aint no thang

Their salaries are set by collective bargaining in the union.

The NBA players themselves have been keeping the one-and-done rule in tact. That rule will be coming to an end soon and the G-League has announced that they will be paying higher salaries to at least one or two "stars" on their team. We will see what affect this has.

I hope they do it. I think one-and-done is horrible for college basketball. I would rather the NBA and the NFL take players out of high school or have their own minor leagues. (players would quickly learn their market value then)
