That is correct...but only after the batter went completely psycho and was physically coming after him. I literally thought that he was going to physically attack the guy.

That behavior has no place in sports. Too bad he won't get suspended.

wow he was angry at that call..I thought it was a ball...

+1 -- and while somewhat understandable, the kid's reaction and getting in the ump's face was a bit much.

That said --- I'm glad he did not hit the ump and I understand him getting pissed ... it was NOT a strike.

For those saying, "can't leave the bat on your shoulder" .... that ball was NOT all that close in my opinion --- he would have whiffed had he swung... If I was the ump I could not end a game on that pitch... no way.

Baylor just fell apart in the ninth and Arkansas forced a game 3 off of two hit batters with the bases loaded.

We need some of that mojo on Stony Bayou tonight.

The overarching point is that ball or strike, you can't react like that, period.

Don't watch the slow motion replay, watch it live. Watch the ump freeze, then when the catcher brings the ball back he calls it a strike. Good hitters don't chase pitches out of the strike zone and that ball was not a strike.

But he didn't incite anything...and he didn't egg the reaction on.

He made his call and was beginning to walk away when the batter got a foot away from him.

I hardly fault the ump in any of this. It was a bad call, yes, but as any one has umpired behind the plate would know, it is a very difficult job.

Looked like he was ust arguing with the ump until the ump decided to put a finger on his chest and talk shite back.

Ump needs to learn to do his job.

He had every right. Even after the catcher framed it, it was still 6 inches off the plate.

Last game of the season, maybe that dudes career, and thats the call you get to end it?

Was this display on par with the Arkansas d-bag that tried to act like he got hit and then pitched a fit after he struck out against ole miss several years back?

are you kidding, he started yelling back very loundly and put his finger in his chest. he definitely egged it on at least some...there are plenty of refs/umps that stand there and take verbal abuse

I was talking about the umpire, not the player

Batter had every right to act like that. That pitch was never in the strike zone. Up and off of the plate. Ridiculous for a college umpire to call that a strike.

That was a terrible call.

I don't agree. Baseball is an emotional game left up to the idiots in blue. I would have snapped as well.

I won't defend all of the batter's actions but that was a horrible call under any circumstances. To end a team's season on a call like that was just brutal.

Not sure I would have went after the umpire like he did but I would have definitely let him know that he blew the call.

It was the typical yelling at the umpire, flip bat thing. Then the ump points his finger and puts it on his chest while shite talking back.

Those saying that pitch was a strike are probably the same ones who said Snikeris clearly came off the bag yesterday

Ump should have just kept walking away. He blew a callto end the players season, he needs to act like a COLLEGE umpire.
