As a Saints fan, I can tell you that the potent offense declines with the leader, and you just have to hope the defense gets better to carry the load.

Brees didn't really start to show the decline until after he came back from injury in 2019.
It probably was evident before, but we didn't really notice it till then.
We chalked it up to the injury. But that wasn't it. Gotta say, Sean Payton is a genius at working around weaknesses.
