I'm not going to act like the Pels are a great team or anything, but they've won 41 games through 70 games. Last year, that was already enough wins to make the playoffs. This year, the 10th seed will likely have a winning record. So, who are the teams that surprisingly suck that the Pels just suck less than?

Milsap miss half the season. NOw Harris is out.
There are 8 teams tanking. 22 team trying to win. Pels are 15th In net rating. So of teams that are trying they are 15th of 22. That’s well below average. 2/3 of the teams who are trying to win are better at it. Enjoy your rd 1 sweep.

Bradley who was a key piece in the deal is hurt. Gallinari is hurt. Bev, hurt. Etc etc. Pels only make playoffs when other teams have catastrophic injury. That’s the book on Anthony Davis.

The point is that you can't argue against it. Like saying "when D'Antoni has players who buy in, he's got a better record than Pop". This isn't measurable.

Dally there is a finite number of wins each season. 1230. The league has never had this many bad teams. 8 teams with a winning % at 33% is unheard of. Unprecendted tanking. That boosts the win total of every team trying to win compared to prior years. Bc the bad teams aren’t beating anybody but each other. They are that bad.

So if pelicans are not an 8th seed, this whole argument would be for naught right?
Cousins is gone and hill was out for most of the season. While Hill isn't a great starter, his 25 minutes would bring better play than cunningham early on. He's also far better than using etwuan Moore defending the 3. Pelicans biggest issue is defense, he's at worst average which is far better than cunningham, Moore, and Miller.

If they finish 7th and the spurs without Leonard are 8. Or the wolves with no butler are 8th... safe to say those teams would’ve maybe just maybe beat out Pels with their stud players?

Butler is going to be out less games than boogie.
I'd agree with kawhi since with him they're likely a 55+win team.
But the fact is, you're arguing pelicans got lucky with injuries to other teams yet ignore the fact 2 starters were out for 30+ games each

None of the others teams are impressive either. They would be lucky to win more than one game at most off CC or GSW. 3-8 collectively in the west is as weak as I can remember. The win totals are inflated by the tanking at the bottom.

If Pels finish 5th one game back of the 4 seed is it safe to say they'd be in the top 4 with Cousins?
