James Ennis' deal with the Houston Rockets is for roughly $4 million in total, league sources told ESPN. He'll have a player option in the final year of the 2-year deal, league sources confirm.

Ennis is considered an outstanding defensive wing who played under Jeff Bzdelik in Memphis. Played in a somewhat similar offensive system in New Orleans.

Among the quotes in that story, his agent, Scott Nichols, said Monday that Ennis preferred a deal with the Rockets because of fit. "James plays up and down, multiple positions, long, 3-point shots; it fits perfectly for what the Rockets need."

He has a good year defensively and he's going to get paid well.
We know he can shoot (did it with us in that short stint), gotta show his defensive abilities.

I think anyone with a functioning brain has known there was 0.0% chance Capela was going anywhere this offseason. @RedNationHoops staying on top of this developing story tho

He gonna get to loft up 7 3s a night and provide above avg wing D. Then get paid next offseason and then know nothings will say “how will you ever replace ennis?”

Idk if I seen a better summer league squad than this iteration of CC. wow. Several guys looking like they ready to play rotation minutes with the big boys next year. Future is bright.

De'anthony Melton looks really good.
Zhou Qi is also surprisingly developing and Danuel House has shown some good things.
This might the summer league champs.

Broadcast guys were comparing him to Pat Beverley but I think hes already better.

We can’t disrespect Pat like that. He is one of us. And has proven himself at this level. He will rejoin CC in the next couple seasons he is one of us. So I can’t say anything bad about Pat. Melton got that 6’8” wingspan too. And a better athlete.

Melton reminds me of Dante Exum with better handles.
Dante Exum is 6-6 though w/ 6-9 wingspan.
Melton is 6-4 with 6-8 wingspan.

One of Melton’s knocks was that he wasn’t a great 3 point shooter. He had a year off to work on his shooting and so far his shot looks good. Shooting 44% from 3 so far in summer league.

Yeah his shot looks good 8-18 so far during summer league. Hopefully he can improve even further.

Yeah SGA is legit. Will be an interesting team if they stay healthy. Their D is gonna be solid especially when Kwahi joins the squad

Zach ‘BBB’ Lowe strikes again.
Beware of labeling as losers: Houston Rockets Remember the last time we freaked out about Houston losing free agency? It was 2014: LeBron switched teams, Dallas hit Chandler Parsons with a fat offer sheet, and the Rockets let Parsons walk because they didn't think he was a star. In Daryl Morey's world, everyone but superstars is fungible. They replaced Parsons with ... Trevor Ariza, at half the cost. Houston is usually a couple of steps ahead. The Rockets deserve some benefit of the doubt
Etx etx with each passing day I’m more confident he lurks Role players are role players. James and Chris get you to 60 wins whether you got Ariza and Luc or Melo and Ennis as the 6 and 7th best players in the squad.
