That’s literally just an opinion piece
Not even a rumor with a “source”
It said “rival executives” - no?
Does that not count?

I didn’t expect them to do that.
Apparently it’s a backup plan of sorts. They’ll renounce once they secure kemba or another big FA

“Rival executives think KD might want to discuss pairing up with Kawhi”
Earlier it was “KD has discussed teaming up with Leonard”
One presents itself as a fact.
One is obvious opinion. Which is pointless to report.

Most of what the media is reporting is opinion based now. Outside of the insider guys like Woj and Shams.

In a sense I agree. But usually they mask it as a “sources are reporting so and so wants to do do this and that”
That quote was literally just “people think these two guys should talk about teaming up”
Not even something worth reporting

Are you suggesting the sports media would throw out articles with generic speculation on the two biggest free agents in a sport when they currently have no hard news to report on??
How preposterous of you!

I personally think it’s interesting that league executives feel that way

Long term, if Kawhi had to pick between going to the Lakers with Lebron, AD, Kuzma and a bunch of late 30 one dimensional vet minimum/d leaguers and going to the Clippers with Durant and their core, it’s pretty clear which would be the better decision.
Kawhi knows first hand that 4-12 on a roster is just as if not more important than 1-3.

Kind of wish he just stays with Toronto.
Would keep the league perfectly balanced.
Raptors, Bucks, 76ers(maybe) all legit contenders from the east.
And the west is wide arse open right now. And the Warriors run is over. Still will be a great team in 2 years but never gonna be the juggernaut they have been for the last 4 years again.
I feel like the regular season is actually gonna matter again now that Lebron isn’t in the east and warriors are hurt. Good for the league IMO

Kawhi will most likely go back to Toronto. He’s a sports God there now. They would be the favorites again with their core intact and even if their vets decline they still have young players in Pascal, OG, Fred, and McCaw developing/entering their prime. They’ll be able to reload around those 4 and Kawhi (and Danny) after next season too.

Kemba to Boston per Shams

Kemba Walker plans to commit to a four-year, $141M maximum contract with the Boston Celtics after free agency opens on Sunday, league sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium.

I've seen no evidence that Kawhi cares about being revered, or at least that he makes his decisions based on it. He was revered in SA at one point. He knows that fans are fickle.
Toronto is the least likely destination. They've done everything right and he's still taking other meetings. That should tell you right there what's important to him.
I guess if both LA teams completely botch their sitdowns with him that he'd go back, but I think they're a distant 3rd right now.
