Keselowski is a punk, but I really don't think he was at fault yesterday and carl's retaliation was totally uncalled for. If you really wanted to frick with him do it at bristol in two weeks, not when you're 200 laps down and he's running like 7th. That shite was dirty to the max.
Agree with everything here.
The replays clearly show him steer right into him (as opposed to having drifted up while racing hard).

quote:Atlanta has the advantag of having what they call a sunken infield - so the tops of the garages, etc. are about level with the track, so even the lower seats have pretty good views. If you can get higher, you can really see the entire place. We always sit about row 55 right above the flag stand, and the only things we don't see are a small section of the pits and a very small part of the exit of turn two - because there is a post there.
My only race was Darlington 2004. Our seats were the first row, middle of the backstretch. We could only see from the middle of turn 1-2 to the middle of turn 3-4. But we were about 10 feet from the fence. It was pretty damn cool the first time all the cars drove by at full speed.
Daytona and Talladega you have to sit up in the towers to be able to really see because the places are so huge. I would love to see a race at Indy, but I have been to the track before (just not to a race) and there you really are limited to seeing the area of track right in front of you.

Don't know about Daytona but at 'Dega you can see the entire track from about row 25 and up on the backstretch grandstands (just no pit road). Indy is an awful track to attend a race for viewing in my opinion. Went to the 500 in '94. Other than the fact that cars were being lapped on lap 8 you could'nt see jack. Sat at the start/finish line about 30 rows up. The stands on the inside of the track block everything on the backstretch. Not to mention there is only 9 degrees of banking and flat straights. At 2.5 mile of track you would'nt be able to see much anyway. I did have fun in gasoline ally during the race. Got weighed on the scales and watched the middle of the race in Raul Boesells garage area.

Agreed.
I can't stand NASCAR. At all. But live, it was one of the cooler sporting events I've ever attended. We went to Daytona (the Pepsi 400) a few years ago for a bachelor party (the groom likes NASCAR), and had an absolute blast. The cars are SO loud, it's amazing. And at Daytona, it's the loudest because it's such a large track that the cars are almost always at full-RPM.
It's also a great place to people watch.
Good times...

Stay away from Bristol then.

Nah, that's the small one, right? So lots of wrecks..?
And I hate hockey, but had a blast going to some Kingfish games. I think sporting events live (for the most part) are cool, and that includes NASCAR.
I honestly didn't think I'd have as much fun at the race as I did. We all had a blast. I was screaming and cheering for Jeff Gordon, just because everyone in the stands around us hated him. It was hilarious.

Sound wise Daytona and Talladega are open and let all of the noise out. Also the cars are 2 mile away from you across the track. Bristol is a 1/2 mile bull ring that goes up 10 stories all the way around (no where for the noise to go). Put 43 cars with no mufflers in that bowl, that are never more than 200 yrd away from you and you will know what loud is. I've never even came close to putting plugs in at Talladega. You can't take them out at Bristol. You will go 3 1/2 hrs without speaking to anyone, they can't hear you if you did.

And at Atlanta (1.5 miles around) and Talladega, Daytona, etc. after a restart, and before the cars are completely spread out, you get a respite while they are away from you.
Have not been to Bristol, but I can only imagine.

Also factor in that the restrictor plates at Dega/Daytona cut RPMs, you get higher revs (and higher frequencies) at Bristol than you do the big tracks. I have never worn ear protection at the plate tracks, but usually do at Atlanta because we are under the press box and the sound seems to get trapped in there.
I got a scanner for Christmas so yesterday was my first chance to get to use it. It was amazing the way the guys in the NASCAR control tower tell every jet blower, truck, ambulance, etc. where to go, how to get there and how to get back. I never realzied that there was that much hands on during track cleanup.

How about the way they set the order for the restart? It is amazing to me how quickly they have it figured out.

I think it was the caution where Edwards ko'd Keslowski, they had given the one to go signal and then gave them one mroe under yellow because they were trying to figure out who went where. But typically as soon as the pace car picked up the leader they were calling out the running order.

I was at the race yesterday too. Nascar races are so much fun. Even the people watching experience is awesome. The people next to us yesterday had their kids funneling capri suns...only at nascar.
We got tickets to night race at Bristol last year. By far my favorite race experience.

I wondered about that.

I go to Texas Motor Speedway every year and love every minute of it. Usually tailgate Friday then do the Nationwide race saturday and the cup race on Sunday. Takes me a few days to recover

quote:We always get the pass to park in the paved lot behind the champion/winner grandstand, and the last two March races there has been a guy with one of those "remote control" rattlesnakes. He will sit it on the edge of walkway and run he control cables back down the hill to where he is sitting in the parking lotand make it twitch or lunge at people as they walk by...it is hilarious.

I bet Edwards drops a few notches in respect from some drivers no matter how much they dislike Keslowski
I bet Edwards, as well as many other drivers, will be opting for black driving gloves from now on.

I dunno if he would've won, but it would have been an exciting finish if that caution hadn't come out on 323. It could easily have been a replay of the Kurt Busch/Ricky Craven Darlington finish.
Posted on 3/8/10 at 4:28 pm to PJinAtl
I think Kurt Busch took off before the green flag. Granted Montoya had a poor restart.

We get there on Wednesday Night and leave on Monday. The guys I go with, wanted to go straight from Texas to Dega in April. I couldn't handle it.
Also Montoya would have found a way to lose at ATL and then blamed someone else. He is the biggest bitch in Nascar.
