What year did NASCAR peak? I had a debate with someone the other day. I said late 90's. he said it peaked in the early 80's. what y'all say?

I'd say late 90s or early 2000s

Interesting, that's when the chase first came into play. To me it went downhill after Kurt Busch won in 2004.

F1 races are boring. When a 10 second gap between 1st and 2nd is considered close, it's boring.

That was the commercial boom anyway with the move to the new TV deal. Dale SR had a resurgence in 2000 then the new TV deal, then his death brought more eyes to Nascar, Junior was leading half the races and there was interest boom.
I don't think the Chase hurt the sport, I just think those that jumped on the bandwagon jumped back off. In most years, the second half of the season would suck with the old points system

God damm they are in a commercial for every damm caution. Come back for 30 seconds and back to commercials.
Kane blew right front and went into the wall while leading the race.

I've never been concerned with cautions during commercials, you're gonna get 10,000 replays anyway.
Now compare that with missing half the race then televising 50 caution laps

I wouldn't wish any ill will on Kahne, but that was gonna be Junior's biggest competition today, now if JJ wrecks I wouldn't complain

Try MRN radio, that's how I follow the races.
Two best cars out, maybe Junior will get the win now.

I like how people think redneck is an insult.
