Muschamp's defense at UT is vastly overrated.

I don't think he stays there long enough to live this out. Mack has got at least 5 years left and Muschamp is going to have a ton of offers by then. Who knows what could happen in 5 years, Meyer may try his hand at the NFL, Carroll may be gone from USC.....who knows really?

Word has long been that Mack will take over as AD when Deloss Dodds retires. Dodds is over or close to 70, I've heard he would step down in 2010 (maybe Roughneck or another UT posters has better info). and Mack will be close to 60 by then.

I do agree with BilJ, I think this is stupid, sure they'd lose him as a DC, but Texas is a primo job, they should have their pick of top flight Head Coaches once Mack steps down or up in this case.

This year maybe, while the stats may not bear it out, they have played with more intensity, plus they are playing lots of young guys, especially in the secondary. Kind of silly to judge his D at Texas based on just 1 season either way.

Wow, totally out of the blue. If only some poster could have been informing the masses about this deal for the past few months on here.

Oh wait this guy did:

<--------------------

Anywho, seeing as the first step has already come to pass, I guess I'll just run down the rest of them once again.

Mack steps down after 2009 (the team he has pinpointed for a National Championship for 2 years now). Muschamp takes over as Head Coach. Greg Davis retires as he doesn't want to be the OC without Mack. Applewhite takes over as the OC. Deloss Dodds retires as AD. Mack Brown takes over as AD. University of Texas Football is set for years to come. The End!

I thought that was the premise for the lateral move to Texas defensive coordinator over Auburn. He is at the right school if he wants unlimited success. UT is a great school with a shitload of resources to make a strong program stronger.
