"He's just a competitor"

I especially hate that phrase when used as basically an excuse for a player or coach being an a-hole.

That a team "wanted it more" than the other.

Pretty sure they both wanted to win.

"at the end of the day" seems to be the most used filler in interviews.

Dialed in

"Look at Brees' eyes! They are as big as saucers, major concentration, completely dialed in"

also "that's what you want in a player"
often used when describing a player who is arguing with teammates. "He is just so competitive and passionate about the game, that's what you want in a starting quarterback"

high motor

ETA: I see many others used motor so I'll add.

I hate when people use "a" infront of someone's name(or makes a single person plural) when describing an attribute.

"Well that type of defense isn't going to cut it when a Peyton Manning comes to town."

"The school really needs to thank the Billy Cannons of the school, you know, the Matt Flynns, the Glenn Dorseys"

Hates losing / nobody cares more

Outworking his opponent

It all comes down to a couple of plays / bounces . who executes / preparation / who wants it / who steps up and takes it

With *****, you know what you're getting.

It may not be pretty, but all he/she does is win

There is one analyst/commentator who uses the phrase "knifing" to describe defensive players breaking through the offensive line. He uses it damn near 30 times a game. I can't think of who it is, but that shite is annoying.
