But if anyone thinks the Saints are more loyal than Green Bay

I'm certainly not arguing that. The Saints do, however, absolutely have one of the most loyal fanbases in the NFL.

There's also the fact that Atlanta also has a good MLB team and a competitive NBA team. There isn't as much buy in with just one team.

All NOLA has is the Saints. Unless you count the "Pelicans". Of course people are going to buy in a lot more.

The Hornets were pretty successful not too long ago (more successful than the hawks have been). Didn't seem to impact the saints at all

Attendance is shitty for the braves too.

Atlanta has more people than the entire state of Louisiana

Quoted for how stupid this statement was

ETA: Unless you count the suburbs. Thought you were talking about just the city. My bad

If you understood where Turner Field and the Georgia Dome are, and if you understood how traffic is in Atlanta, you'd understand why there isn't a sellout for every game at either venue.

Dodger Stadium, Coors Field, and Yankee Stadium are the only three MLB stadiums larger than the Ted. There isn't a single MLB team that sells out every game. Most don't even come close.

When you combine the cost of attending a game, the location of the stadium, and the heat of summers in Atlanta... well, that doesn't bode well for attendance.

The braves don't sell out all their playoff games

I understand what you're saying, but using the Hawks as an example doesn't exactly help refute Atlanta's reputation as a bad sports town.

The Hawks, a playoff team, ranked 26th in attendance last year. The Hornets/Pelicans, which finished 14th out of 15 in the West, came in 3 spots behind at 29. The year before, the Hawks had a playoff team and the Hornets finished dead last in the West, and yet still only averaged 90 less fans per game than Atlanta.

In all fairness, they'd get more support if they made good personnel decisions and the Atlanta Spirit Group sold them.

I'm far from an expert on Atlanta, but I've spent a few weeks there over the past few years and the Falcons and Hawks (and the Thrashers, before they left) have always struck me as teams that were just "there" rather than really being an important part of the city. In that sense, the Braves always seemed like the team in Atlanta.

I have a friend who grew up outside of ATL and is a diehard Falcons fan, and he's always said that the Falcons' local marketing is very underwhelming.
