TNT tried this with their "Players Only" commentary with like Kevin McHale and Chris Webber and other former player color commentators.

The CBS/Westwood One crews have been excellent for decades. When I started listening it was the GREAT Jack Buck and Hank Stram.
Once they got too old and died, Sunday nights were Brad Sham and Boomer Esiason, along with the current Harland and Warner. Sustained quality.

Kurt Warner was pissed he was passed over last time.
I still think Peyton Manning or possibly Jay Cutler would be a great option as an analyst. I'm not sure who you get for Play by Play. They've struggled with that since Tirico left.
Tessitore and McFarland are bad.
