I know there had been talks for a flyweight class for a while. I like watching the small, quick guys go at it. That should be good.

Any other fighters besides Condit and Larson that may get moved over?

I disagree. Someone pointed out in another thread that the smaller guys like Faber and Angel Miguel Torres get the promotion and backing they deserve by being in the WEC. As a seperate company, they're able to push a "different" product.

I had thought Zuffa bought the WEC to be more of a minor league to UFC... looks like it's moving towards a merge. I kinda hope the WEC stays it's own thing for smaller guys with the smaller cage.

I know it's a dumb question, but what's the difference?

They've always been protective of WEC to not portray that image. IMO, this is why you have seen very few TUF losers end up in WEC.

I just think they are setting it up as a place to focus on and promote the smaller classes.

Cash, Max or someone else could give you a better answer I'm sure, but wrestling would be more about control and position, where Jiu-Jitsu would concentrate more on advancing towards maneuvers/submissions (I think).

I never really thought about that - good point. I just wanted to see Faber and Torres fight more often - I don't have channel versus. And then the possibility of seeing Kid Yamamoto in the UFC made me

not that dumb.

Wrestling is typically takedowns using shots to the legs.

Jitsu is more throws and submissions using the other fighters momentum.

There is plenty of room for overlap between wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu, and judo.

Both are grappling, along with Judo, Sambo and a few others, but the focus on different things.

High level-

Wrestling- take downs (single and double leg), take down defense, and controling(riding) a down opponent

BJJ- submissions, submission defense, advancing position(ie. from guard to half guard to side mount to full mount), sweeps(going from being on your back to on top)

BJJ guys will often drop to their back with the other guy on top because they feel they can either pull off a sub from their back or sweep.

You will never see a wrestler drop to his back.

yeah. wrestling is taking someone down, avoiding being taken down, keeping someone down when you're on top of them

jiu jitsu is submissions and moves to put yourself in a better position

obviously they go hand in hand but you have people like Mark Coleman who are awesome at wrestling and shitty at bjj. Nate Diaz, awesome at jiu jitsu but he's such a skinny frick he really can't wrestle great.

Penn has maybe the best jiu jitsu in mma, St Pierre has probably the best wrestling

Yeah. GSP will be Hell to deal with onch B.J. is huffing and puffing. Penn will murder him until that point. TO me the whole fight will come down to B.J.'s stamina.

The reason why I scored it even is because GSP is very accurate with his kicks, we dont see that a lot from BJ. If it was on pure boxing, then clearly it would be BJ.

Youre describing judo more than traditional or brazillian jiu-jitsu
