re: MMA - Khabib wants $10 Million for Conor Fight

Conor defended some of those takedown attempts, but Mendes still had a good bit of success taking him down. And if Mendes had that much success, I have to think Khabib (who is bigger and better) should have similar to better luck taking the fight to the ground. And I doubt he'll fade the way Mendes appeared to do.
That was 3 years ago, but I question how much Conor has practiced takedown defense since then. Undoubtedly some to prep for Aldo, Eddie & Nate, but then probably next to nothing for several months as he prepped for Mayweather. And since then, he's had numerous distractions (distracted by newfound wealth, reports of dust-ups-- like him allegedly hitting a mobster back home, the legal issues in NY, and so on). As good as he is, that level of distraction can't help but impact him mentally and soften the chip on his shoulder that he had as a hungry up-and-comer.
I like Conor and definitely don't rule him out, but I agree with Pendulum's post a little above mine: Conor has a puncher's chance, but if he can't snipe Khabib on the way in, Khabib is likely to get him down and wear him out.
Khabib looked vulnerable (amateurish at times) in the standup against Iaquinta. If he can survive the kinda early shots that got Alvarez and Aldo and wear Conor down, he can grind out a win. His standup is a concern against a heavy puncher though.

No one outside of the Mma bubble have ever heard of khabib. No way Khabib should make more than Diaz did. Nate is recognizable and can sell promos. Khabib has the personality of a wet blanket. The Ppv will sell because of mcg but I don’t see how it will be as successful as the Diaz ppvs.
Outside of MMA, there's a few weed stores and about a dozen triathletes that have heard of Nate Diaz.
Conor is a bigger name now than he was when he fought Nate. I think that alone will put this PPV above the show with Nate. Throw in Conor's bus assault, more buys. Now Khabib is saying that it's personal and if he sees Conor there will be a fight. Put them in the same location during the build up - more buys. Khabib made a genius though unintentional move when Conor assaulted that bus, in saying "Send me location". That phrase will be used all the time leading up to this fight. More buys.
Khabib's English is very good. He does interpreter work for the other fighters on his team. He's not flashy like Conor, but he does a pretty good job, especially for a Russian, to sell the fights he's in. He's not like Fedor. Whether it's real or contrived, his role as the intense but humble guy is something a lot of fans like. Everywhere Khabib goes, a lot of fans come out.
All of this means money. Every time UFC sets up an event to promote this fight, they will make money, and it will generate more PPV buys. I don't think Khabib can get $10, but his manager made a good move in starting that high. I think he ends up around $5, which seems reasonable. $5 million is really good when balanced against the cost of living in Dagestan.

No way he is that big of a draw
He might be internationally. UFC might see it as a way to draw the Russian fans in.

Does anyone think the illegal streams will affect the pay negotiations for this fight?

I want to see Nate Diaz fight Khabib.
That wouldn't end well for Nate at all. Both Diaz bros have always had weak takedown defense.

Because they both have weak TDD.

I think all of what you said is correct. I think Khabib can and will end up getting around $8M.
This fight has a ton of potential. Conor's first fight back and as an underdog against an undefeated Russian? It doesn't get any better than that outside if a huge HW fight between someone like a prime Fedor vs a Lesnar or Couture back when they were the champ. And the HW division just doesnt have a fight like that to offer right now (though Cormier v Lesnar will do well).
As for the fight itself, give me Khabib. Yeah Conor has heavy hands. But I'll take an absolute world class ground guy over a heavy handed guy who vastly prefers stand up 7/10.

That mother fricker hasn't earned a $10 million fight.
Whats the highlight of his career?

No... Because they don't care if you take them down. It's the other strength to their game.
Well it's why they've lost 9/10 times so they should care.

Take a gander at Nate Diaz's win/loss record. Anything stand out to you?
LINK
His submission offense is good, but it's not good enough to scare people away from taking him down. He doesn't mind being taken down because he's way too overconfident in the sub skills from his back. Hence the 11 losses.

Some people in Conor's inner circle posted travel reservations to Vegas for dates that line up with UFC 229, and then deleted their posts. That's only 9 weeks from now. Just doesn't seem like enough time to promote this type of fight.
Also, Dana White took Colby Covington to the White House to meet Trump - just as he said he would.

He must be new to the sport. A UFC reject did this to him.
