He was highly thought of. He's fallen off the map quite a bit.

Good rental trade off by the Rangers for Hendricks.

That may be true. Again, he's blocked and the Rangers farm system is stacked. I bet he is a top 10 prospect in the Cubs system.

He's got good power. He's a good athlete. I bet he ends up as a corner outfielder. I'm not sure he sticks at 3B.

The article from fangraphs I just linked said he has great feet and soft hands, and his skill set is such that there's no question he can stick at 3B. They even say his defense is so good, he could manage 2B.

Hmmmm...2B is probably our weakest position in the farm. Wonder if we switch him quick to try it out.

Pretty stoked about the SP.

damn..Baseball America has Villaneuva the 100th bestg prospect in baseball

Ehh...maybe so. I don't know. The time I saw him play, I wasn't impressed with his defense. But I thought his athleticism would play well at a corner outfield spot.

Jake Brigham, AA Starter/Reliever. My bet is that he's a reliever. He struggled at times as a starter this year.

I would've rathered Delgado last week, but I can't complain too much about the little info I've seen on these two prospects. After all, Dempster is a 2-3 month rental.

Me too..But I really like the Vizcaino deal we got for Maholm..before he had TJ surgery, he was ranked ahead of Delgado by most scouts.

Definitely. Even he never gets healthy, it's a no lose deal. Maholm and Johnson weren't in the long term plans.

Don't get the Qualls-McGehee trade at all. McGehee isn't anything to write home about, but we would've been useful off the bench against lefties.

Chad Qualls?

I like Huntington's other moves, but this is terrible.

Quails sucks, but he'll DFA'd in a few days when Cruz comes off the DL.

No need for McGehee with how terrible he's been recently and Sanchez coming in to platoon with Jones at 1B.

I'm just glad McGehee is gone.

Bill Brink @BrinkPG Huntington said #Pirates checked in on Pence, Victorino, other rentals, but decided cost was too high.

So basically Marte is your everyday LF + Snider is your everyday RF. Sanchez will see starts at 1B against tough lefties and be a bench bat. Jones slides down to 1B full time. Presley 4th OF.
