They only get the supplemental pick if they make a qualifying offer and Dempster doesn't take it, right? He already said he is going to take it.

I think the Cubs can decline it and still get the pick

Buster Olney ?@Buster_ESPN Jayson Stark now hearing from a source that PHI's Lee talks with TEX have all but ended. Complicated, multi-layered, better for offseason.

looks like we're not in on Lee.
That back loaded deal is ridiculous. Phillie fricked themselves.
$25-million a year from 13-15 and a $27.5-million vesting option for 2016 contingent on 200IP in 2015 or 400IP 2014-15. Dammmmmmnnnnn

Ok, what's your prediction on who the Pirates deal for? There's so many rumors/specualtion/debunks/wandering info out there that I don't really know, but I expect them to trade for some kind of bat. With the way the Reds -- and the teams vying for our wild card spot, too -- the way they are, we can't stand pat.
Regardless if it's Victorino, Pence, Choo, Pierre, Hart or whoever, there's SOMEBODY we can get without having to give up a ton.
If we're stuck with Presley continuing to be a starter in a corner OF spot along with Barajas at C and Barmes at SS, it's going to be hard for us to compete for the division as well as hold on to our wild card spot.

Would really like to see the Pirates get somebody like Willingham but I'm afraid the Twins would want one of the Pirates top pitchers for him.
Minnesota's Liriano could also help them out.
At the same time I don't want them to give up their best minor league players because it'd be awesome to see sustained success in Pittsburgh.

WhiteSox acquired Francisco Liriano from the Twins for infielder Eduardo Escobar and left-hander Pedro Hernandez.

Told Joe Blanton's medical records have been faxed to #orioles orthopedist. For what it's worth.

I really think NH is going to get a middle of the order RF/IB (G. Jones would play the other position). I think they're really high on Choo as a potential leadoff man (high OBP) and RF. Pence wouldn't surprise me either. I expect a move.
The bench is also sooo young. I think they'll go get a veteran bench bat which wouldn't cost anything prospect wise.
Also, a lefty reliever wouldn't surprise me.
I think the Bucs will be quite active tomorrow.

I think Liriano bounces back big with a new organization. Minnesota coaches fried his head.

Looks like Drew to Oakland.
He and Gibson are in a closed door meeting right now.

7:03pm: Bob Brookover of the Philadelphia Inquirer hears the Phillies want infield prospect Jonathan Schoop for Blanton. Schoop, 20, entered the season as the Orioles' number three prospect behind Dylan Bundy and Manny Machado, according to Baseball America. However, he didn't crack the publication's midseason list of the top 50 prospects in the game. Schoop has a .244/.301/.391 batting line in 413 plate appearances at Double-A this year.

They aren't getting him for Joe fricking Blanton.

I know, right? Who do they think Blanton is?

Phils seem to be low balling everyone. Will probably panic tomorrow and give in.
