But the odds are that these two won't reach the majors

CJ had value both on the Astros and apparently as a trade piece. At nearly 28, he's not a long term plan for the future.

If you're JL and you can flip him for some type of decent return, do it. If not, he stays and is one of the better hitters on the club and seemingly a leader in the clubhouse. That being said, having him on the team doesn't mean a whole lot this season.

At least have one halfway decent player. Who is the longest tenured astro? Schafer?

We got Schafer on July 30 or 31st last year. Wesley Wright was a rule 5 pick before 2010 so he's the Astro whos been around the longest.

The longest tenured position player is Jason Castro. He's not active right now so the longest active position player for us is Matt Downs.

Might as well go ahead and deal Norris while they're at it.

I really think they're going to make a big move for a RF/1B.

If not, at least a bench veteran and bull pen arm (lefty).

I, as a Pirates fan, really want us to get Victorino. Lots of fellow Pirates fans disagree with me, but I'd give up Brad Lincoln to get Victorino. Yes, Lincoln is having a good year, but it's four months out of his entire career that have been good. Lincoln may be a great set-up man/closer in the future. He may not. Relief pitchers have a tendency to have a 2-4 year window of being good before fizzling out, some shorter than that. I'd be willing to give him up.

Victorino is exactly what our offense needs at the top of the lineup. Patient hitter that can draw a lot walks and steal a lot bases. Not to mention he'd be a significant defensive upgrade in LF or RF. So tired of having infielders (Drew Sutton, Josh Harrison) and bench players (Alex Presley)playing alongside Cutch in the outfield. Victorino's making $5-6 this year, and I think we could try to sign him to a 2-3 year contract for a little less than that since he's getting a little older.

Shin-Soo Choo would be a good leadoff option, too, but it would take a lot more to get him. I like Victorino here.

Give me Pierre over Victorino.

Victorino is having a bad year and is a rental.

I wouldn't deal Lincoln, who's possibly your closer of the future when they deal Hanrahan this offseason, for two months of Victorino hitting .250.

Give me Pierre, who would cost basically nothing prospect wise. Gets on base, steals slot of bases, average over .300, and still covers ground in the OF.

I'd rather go all in and get Pence than Victorino.

I kinda wish Yanks would grab Headly... Although when ARod returns he would have no position even though he has club friendly contract
