The only other player the Dodgers might want is Matt Garza. And that's probably an either/or.

I would think Dempster + LaHair could be enough to get Lee. LaHair is cheap and under team control for a few years. And LAD could use some pop at 1B/RF

LaHair has regressed since his hot start. Is he all that much different than James Loney?

Sounds like a great deal for both parties.

#Dodgers deal for Victorino or Pence possible even if team gets Dempster along with H. Ramirez. LA has been in talks with #Phillies.

i think so..James Loney is god awful. LaHair has cooled off, but has still hit double the HRs in June/July than Loney has the entire year.

Not many LH SPs in the NL west either, so LaHair would play almost everyday.

Unless you watch the Dodgers consistently you really can't come to grasp just how bad of a baseball player James Loney is.

Giants:
Bumgarner
Zito

Dbacks:
Miley
Saunders

Padres:

Pomeranz
Cabrera

ESPN's Buster Olney writes that the Cubs' current plan is to keep Ryan Dempster and make a qualifying offer this offseason to receive draft pick compensation.

It's all part of the negotiation process, as the Cubs aren't satisfied with the Dodgers' current offer. The Dodgers have the upper hand in talks at the moment, as Dempster has made it clear that he would prefer to pitch in Los Angeles rather than Atlanta. A deal with the Braves isn't completely dead, but Braves general manager Frank Wren conceded that it's "highly unlikely

I don't see how anyone can think he's overrated.

Overrated in the sense that he isn't worth $20 million dollars a year.

Meh. Their pitching sucks. They need to add an arm more than the Cubs need to trade one.

And all Cubs fans sit on the edge of their seat today and hope Dempster tosses a gem.

Yeah...this start against the Pirates for a team that will lose 90 games is soooo important.

Maybe to you, but on the market I think that's exactly what he's worth. Now if a club wants to go out there and talk Hamels money at him, then I think that is overrating him just a bit.

Pirates call up top position player prospect Starling Marte. The top 40 prospect in baseball is a 5-tool OF'er. So excited.

Pirates would still like to get a corner OF bat.

Marte and McCutchen lock down 2/3 of the OF. If another corner OF'er is acquired, Jones/McGehee would platoon at 1B.

ETA:

@Dejan_Kovacevic: CONFIRMED through #Pirates source who just talked to Marte: He WILL meet team in Houston. He’s in the majors.

No thanks

And I think Casey is a bum.

Really hoping they go get a corner OF'er to slide Jones down to 1B, so I only have to see Casey out there against LHP.
