Dallas Morning News is making the case for why the Rangers should trade for Ohtani.

That writer must be really bored. There is no way he is getting traded within the division.

A man can dream, no?

I couldn't see the Rangers offering the best prospects unless Leiter, Jung, and Kumar were involved. I could see the Angel's trading for the best package no matter the team

He's only there for a year before he signs with the Dodgers, Yankees, or Mets, so why not? The Angels aren't going to be good, especially if the trade Ohtani. They will want the best value no matter what.

Yes. But I prefer to live in reality. I want Ohtani. But I know that's not going to happen. Especially with Wainwright back.

How often do stars get traded within the division?

Not too often, but it's usually because the team trading FOR the star doesn't want to be haunted by the prospects they gave up for the next 6-7 years.
That story also puts an emphasis on re-signing Ohtani, which the Rangers are unlikely to do.

But I'm not going to give my top trade offer for someone under contract for only one year. And the Rangers offer would likely have to blow any competing offer out of the water. It's possible the Rangers could get a window to negotiate with Ohtani. But the Rangers haven't been that competitive in awhile.

This is true, but we have a new GM, a new ball ballpark, and picked up some big names last off-season.
Rangers are on the rise, friend.

It would take some guts from both GM's to make it happen. But go big or go home.

Arenado not opting out.

Harper has been a force all playoffs.
